One of my favorite parts of being a Maui mural artist is creating artwork that transforms not just a wall, but the feeling of an entire space. My most recent custom mural project was especially meaningful. It was created for a new business rooted in healing, accessibility, and community connection: Maui Community Acupuncture.
Located in Makawao town, the clinic was preparing to open its doors in a space that had sat dormant for quite some time. The new clinic owners envisioned something completely different for the interior — a place filled with vitality, tranquility, warmth, and renewal. Through acupuncture and alternative healing practices, they hope to create accessible wellness offerings for the Maui community. And they wanted the artwork throughout the clinic to reflect that same intention.
They hired me to create two large-scale custom indoor murals that would flow through the space and immerse visitors in the beauty and energy of Maui’s landscapes.
As a Hawaii mural artist, projects like this are incredibly special to me. They allow me to blend storytelling, nature, cultural inspiration, and emotional atmosphere into one immersive experience.

From the beginning, the design process was deeply intentional. The clinic owners wanted each wall to align with traditional Chinese Feng Shui principles while also honoring the natural beauty of Maui.
The first mural — a massive 40-foot by 10-foot wall on the southern side of the clinic — was designed to embody the fire element. Their prompt for the space was:
“Invite the land and southern fire element into the design of the space by featuring a view of Haleakalā at sunrise on the southern wall.”
That vision immediately inspired me.
As a Maui mural artist, bringing the feeling of Hawai’i into the paintings was very important to me. I designed the mural as though viewers are walking through a lush Maui forest before arriving at a breathtaking sunrise view of Haleakalā. The foreground is filled with rich greenery that slowly opens toward the mountain, creating a sense of discovery and movement through the landscape.
To bring the fire element into the mural, I painted blazing red and orange sunrise tones as the sun begins to emerge over the crater.

One of my favorite aspects of creating custom murals in Hawaii is weaving meaningful details throughout the artwork.
For this mural, I incorporated native Hawaiian flora and fauna including:
I also included several hidden critters throughout the mural that visitors can discover over time, including:
I love adding small storytelling elements like this into my mural work because they create moments of curiosity and connection for people experiencing the space.
My hope for this mural was that clients receiving acupuncture treatments would feel transported into nature — leaving their sessions feeling peaceful, grounded, energized, and renewed.

Another unique design feature throughout the clinic was a continuous painted line connecting all of the walls together.
The owners wanted the entire interior to feel cohesive and playful. To do so we incorporated a flowing mustard-yellow line throughout the space using the business’s branding colors. The line curves organically across the walls, connecting the two large murals together. This added movement and warmth to the clinic interior.
The earthy mustard tones combined with the playful curves created a subtle 1970s-inspired feeling and balanced beautifully with the natural Maui imagery.
Details like this make such a difference in custom mural design because they help transform separate walls into one immersive environment.

Finally, the second mural represented the water element and was painted on the north-facing wall of the clinic.
This mural features a sweeping view of Maui’s northwest coastline as seen from the northeast shore, complete with the recognizable outline of the Kahakuloa peninsula in the distance.
The scene is filled with layered blues ranging from bright turquoise to deep cobalt, creating depth and movement throughout the mural. Additionally, swaying palm trees frame the coastline while sea turtles push ashore along the beach below.
Like the Haleakalā mural, this wall also incorporates native Hawaiian plants and animals throughout the landscape, making my Maui mural artist heart happy.
This mural was especially close to my heart because it brought together some of my favorite Maui landscapes into one space. Painting scenes that feel deeply personal and familiar is one of the reasons I love creating murals in Maui.

One of the most meaningful parts of this project was how collaborative the process became.
The clinic owners actually helped me trace portions of the mural outlines onto the walls before painting began so they could physically contribute their own energy and intention into the artwork. I thought that was such a beautiful reflection of the healing work they hope to offer through their clinic.
Every custom mural project begins with extensive communication and collaboration. We spent time discussing:
Once we finalized the concepts, I created the mural designs digitally in Procreate on my iPad. After a few rounds of revisions and edits, we landed on the final compositions.
Because of the scale and level of detail involved, I used a projector to cast the designs onto the walls before tracing them out with the help of the owners.

The full mural project took about a month to complete over roughly 12 painting days.
Some days I painted for nearly eight hours straight, and by the end my arms were definitely sore! However, seeing the murals slowly come to life on such a large scale made every moment worth it.
Overall, there’s something incredibly rewarding about transforming a blank interior into a space that feels immersive, intentional, and emotionally alive.
Now, instead of empty walls, the clinic is filled with color, movement, warmth, and imagery inspired by the beauty of Maui itself.

Projects like this remind me why I love being a Maui mural artist in Hawaii.
Murals have the ability to completely transform how a space feels. They can bring healing, storytelling, energy, identity, and emotional connection into environments people experience every day.
Whether I’m painting for a wellness clinic, hotel, restaurant, retail space, or private residence, my goal is always the same: to create artwork that feels immersive, intentional, and deeply connected to place.
This project with Maui Community Acupuncture was such an honor, and I’m incredibly grateful to have been trusted with helping bring their vision to life.
I’m already looking forward to creating future custom mural projects throughout Maui and Hawaii.

Custom mural pricing depends on the size, level of detail, surface conditions, location, and design complexity of the project. Large-scale murals are typically quoted individually after an initial consultation.
Yes! I am a Maui mural artist but I am available for mural projects throughout Hawaii and select travel destinations depending on the project.
